Our History
Hill’s is a family run business based in Winder, Georgia that spans four generations. Hill’s has evolved from its beginnings as a farm supply store in an agrarian community to its present role as a major supplier of hardware and building materials in a growing suburban market outside Atlanta. In 1918, the business started selling general merchandise, hardware, farm supplies, feed and seed.
In 1948, the store expanded when an International Harvester tractor dealership was added. Hill’s continued to grow in the 1970s with a new larger location in Winder and its affiliation with Ace Hardware Corporation. Hill’s has been recognized by Ace Hardware Corporation as one of its top 15 stores in dollar volume and named one of its top three Ace Hardware home centers.
In 1999, a second store was added in Loganville, Georgia. In 2002, the fourth generation of the Hill family became President of this unique forward-looking company with plans to continue its legendary service for years to come.
As your local Ace Hardware, our company is a member of the largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative in the industry. Ace Hardware began as a small chain of stores in 1924 and has grown to include more than 4,600 stores in 50 states and more than 70 countries. As part of a cooperative, every Ace Hardware store is independently owned.
